Explosives found in one of National Cancer Institute incident’s cars: Min.

CAIRO – 5 August 2019: Egypt’s Ministry of Interior revealed that one of the cars involved in the tragic car accident that took place Sunday night by The National Cancer Institute, killing 20 people, was carrying explosives.

The statement added that Hasm terrorist group affiliated with the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood group is behind the incident, as they were preparing the car to take part in another terrorist attack later. The statement didn’t reveal further details regarding the terrorist attack Hasm was planning to do.

Hasm is an Islamist militant group operating in Egypt. In Arabic, the word “Hasm” means decisiveness. It also stands for Ḥarakat Sawa'd Miṣr (Arms of Egypt Movement). Hasm has been associated with nearly every terrorist attack in Egypt during the last year.

Hasm group is supposedly linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, a group which is deemed illegal in Egypt.

On Sunday night, a wrong-way driving car crashed into three other vehicles, causing a huge explosion outside the Cairo-University affiliated National Cancer Institute in Giza, said a Health Ministry statement.

The Ministry of Health and Population announced that the number of victims rose to 20 people, including four bodies whose identity is still unknown. The number of the injured also rose to 48 on Monday.

The condition of all of the victims is stable except for three who lie in the intensive care unit (ICU). On the other hand, 78 patients at the institute were transferred to hospitals affiliated with Nasser Institute for Research and Treatment, Al-Monira General Hospital, and Dar El Salam General Hospital.
