CAIRO – 3 August 2019: Head of the Technical Committee of the Egyptian Camel Racing Federation, Mohamed Abu Anqa, said electronic chips are being installed on Egyptian camels taking part at the 2nd Crown Prince Camel Festival at the King Faisal Park in Taif, Saudi Arabia.
The race will be held under the patronage of HRH Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz, deputy prime minister and Saudi minister of defense.
A team of veterinarians at the Ministry of Agriculture took over the task of installing the electronic chips, which will contain all the data of each camel for preservation while participating in the race and during the travel journey until their return.
Abu Anqa further added that other medical procedures have also been carried out, including general checks and tests to ensure that they are free of any diseases and their full fitness for racing.
In earlier remarks, head of the committee, Salama Abul Nada, said on that 67 of Egypt’s best camels will travel to participate in the festival, adding that the federation have carefully chosen them from about 1000 camel, all of which are strongly qualified to participate in any race inside and outside Egypt.
Abul Nada expressed his pride that the Egyptian camels will be participating in one of the most important camel racing events in the world. The camels will be accompanied by their owners and trainers along with members of the Egyptian Federation for Camels, headed by Eid Hamdan al-Muzaini.
In the same context, Deputy of President of the Egyptian federation Hamad Shoeb said in a statement that Egyptian poets will participate at the festival for the first time.
The first edition of the festival was launched in 2018 for more than 30 days with the participation of business leaders, politicians and camel enthusiasts. The festival aims at promoting camel racing heritage of the Kingdom and Arab countries.
