CAIRO - 28 July 2019: Seven million Egyptian citizens have returned from Libya since the outbreak of the January 25 Revolution in Egypt and the Libyan revolution, General Manager of Saloum Land Port Mohamed al-Soweisy stated on Sunday.
The official said that the port faced many challenges and tough situations in the aftermath of the revolution as it was subject to attacks and violence. Soweisy revealed that the port achieved revenues worth LE 240 million in FY2018/2019.
The official’s statements came during the visit of the delegation of the Arab Affairs Committee at the House of Representatives to follow up on the progress of development works at Saloum Land Port.
Libya was a work destination for many Egyptians. In 2011, the country fell into chaos due to a civil war and the assassination of Late Libyan President Muammar al-Gaddafi.
