CAIRO - 23 July 2019: Egypt’s First Lady Entsar al-Sisigreeted the Egyptians on the anniversary of July 23 revolution, saluted the Egyptian people and expressed her appreciation ofthe sacrifices of the people and the army in defending the independence of their homeland.

The First Lady addedon her official Facebook accountthat July 23 revolution will remain an example of the strong will of the people.


The Egyptian July 23 Revolution took place on July 23, 1952 by the Free Officers Movement, a group of army officers led by Mohammed Naguib and Gamal Abdel Nasser. The coup aimed at overthrowing King Farouk’s regime.

The movement had more political ambitions, and quickly moved to abolish the constitutional monarchy and aristocracy of Egypt and Sudan, aiming to establish a republic, end the British occupation of the country, and securing the independence of Sudan.
