Algerian president lauds Egypt’s organization of AFCON 2019

CAIRO – 19 July 2019: Algerian Interim President Abdelkader Bensalah congratulated the Egyptian President for the successful organization of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament this year, praising also the spirit of brotherhood and hospitality enjoyed by Algerian fans since their arrival in Egypt.

During his meeting in Cairo with Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Thursday, Bensalah expressed his appreciation to the Egyptian authorities for facilitating all necessary procedures for the entry of Algerian fans to Egypt to attend the tournament, especially the final, presidential spokesman Bassam Radi said in a statement.

Bensalah has arrived in Cairo on Thursday where he is set attend the AFCON final on Friday. The national teams of Algeria and Senegal will face each other in the Cairo International Stadium.

President Sisi lauded the special levels reached by the brotherly bilateral relations between the two countries, affirming Egypt's keenness to push forward bilateral cooperation at various levels.

Bensalah reviewed the developments of the internal situation in Algeria, noting that things are going in the right way according to the constitutional process.

Sisi stressed his full confidence in the Algerian state institutions and the brotherly Algerian people to deal with their own current challenges without the need for the interference in their internal affairs by any foreign parties. He wished Algeria all the security, stability and prosperity, according to the statement.
