Madbouli follows up Egyptian delegation's visit to World Health Organization

CAIRO - 15 July 2019: Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli followed up on Monday several reports related to the health sector, the most prominently the report of the Egyptian delegation's visit to the headquarter of World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva on July 11.

This came during his meeting with Health Minister Hala Zayed and a number of officials to review an array of key health files.

According to the report, the Egyptian delegation viewed the government and the Ministry of Health's effort in the field of health and in the comprehensive Health Insurance Program. Madbouli also followed up the results of different health initiatives.

In a meeting, the Egyptian delegation called Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tidros Adhmanum for attending the World Celebration that will be held by Egypt to announce the success of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi's initiative to eradicate the C virus and to detect non-communicable diseases, the report added.

During the meeting, Egypt's request for supporting the initiative of President Sisi to treat 1 million African from HIV virus was approved by the organization.

The organization also approved Egypt's request to support the Egyptian approach to eradicate the virus in a number of countries such as Nigeria and Pakistan by transferring Egyptian expertise to these countries.

The report also pointed out that the Egyptian delegation held another meeting at the headquarters of the International Vaccine and Immunization Alliance, where a presentation was given by the Egyptian side on the importance of facilitating and providing zero doses of B-virus to children in Africa, especially in countries suffering from the spread of B virus, as one of the most important factors preventing the spread of the disease and eliminating it.

The WHO chief promised to back the Egyptian initiative to treat one million Africans from Virus C, Health Minister Hala Zayed also said.

Zayed added that Egypt agreed with the GAVI to extend its Hepatitis Virus B initiative to a number of countries. The two sides agreed to start with Nigeria and Pakistan.

The report reviewed the campaign of women's health that implements the directives of President Sisi to provide a set of health services aimed at supporting women's health, such as early detection of breast cancer, non-communicable diseases, common tumors, as well as supporting healthy nutrition for different age groups, and improving family planning programs.

The Egyptian delegation also pointed out that the Ministry of Health has prepared to implement the presidential initiative for the early detection of breast cancer set to be implemented on three stages to test 28 million women and provide free treatment.

Each of the three stages is set to last for two months. The first phase of the national campaign is conducted by trained and specialized medical committees in 1,030 health units in nine governorates. The first phase is set to last until August 30, and includes the governorates of Alexandria, Port Said, Beheira, Qalyubia, Damietta, Matrouh, South Sinai, Fayoum, and Assiut.

The second phase is set to last from September 1 to October 30, andincludesCairo, and the governorates of North Sinai, Red Sea, Ismailia, Suez, Kafr El-Sheikh, Menoufia, BeniSuef, Sohag, Luxor, and Aswan. The third stage will start on November 1, and will include Giza, the New Valley, Gharbia, Dakahlia, Sharqia, Minya and Qena.

Madbouli also followed up other reports such as the availability of medicine, the prevention of shortages, the maintenance and support of the national industry; he also followed up the implementation of the health insurance system in Port Said governorate.
