NIAMEY - 9 July 2019: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s continued commitment to assisting the Democratic Republic of Congo during talks he had with the African nation’s President Felix Tshisekedi on the sidelines of a mini coordinating summit between the African Union (AU) and the regional economic groups which he chaired in Niger on Monday.
Sisi hailed the historical relations between the two countries for being a good model of cooperation, coordination and mutual support, asserting keenness on elevating the level of bilateral political coordination and consultation, presidential spokesman Bassam Radi said.
President Tshisekedi lauded the friendly and brotherly ties binding the two countries together, affirming keenness on furthering relations and cooperation especially in the various development and technical domains and at the political level, Radi added.
Also, according to the spokesman, he reviewed with Sisi the latest political developments in the DR Congo, praising Egypt’s unlimited support for efforts to serve its peace, stability and development and thanking it for the constant diplomatic support it has shown to his people at international fora.
President Sisi expressed appreciation of Tshisekedi’s efforts to boost bilateral relations and keenness to support Egypt, especially when it comes to the important Nile water file, Radi said.
