CAIRO – 10 June 2017: The Egyptian authorities renewed their request to Qatar to extradite 26 suspects in acts of violence and terrorism, a judicial source said to El-Shorouk news, Saturday.

The sources added that the 26 defendants are accused of financing the Muslim Brotherhood and committing acts of violence in the country after the June 30 revolution.

The source also said that the Egyptian authorities have submitted these requests several times over the past four years and requested the extradition of Youssef al-Qaradawi, Assem Abdel-Majid,Tariq al-Zomor, Mohammed Abdul-Maqsud, Wagdy Ghoneim and Mohammed Islamboli but got no response from Qatar.

“The Qatari position is completely different from that of the rest of the Gulf countries, which cooperated with Egypt in this file and handed over those who were arrested on their territory,” he said

The source attributed Qatar’s non response to differences with Egypt after the isolation of former President Mohamed Morsi.
