Mauritanian presidential election - Reuters
NOUAKCHOTT, June 23 (MENA) - The initial results of the Mauritanian presidential election showed that former defense minister Mohamed Ould Ghazouani is leading.
Ghazouani is supported by the current Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz and the ruling Union for the Republic (UPR) party.
The votes were counted in 60% of the polling stations.
Ghazouani leads with 51% of votes while Sidi Mohammed Ould Boubacar comes second with 20% and Biram Dah Abeid comes in third position with 17%.
