CAIRO - 19 June 2019: The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) revealed a report Tuesday showing that the number of Egyptians abroad reached 10.247 million, according to the Foreign Ministry estimates in 2017.
The report noted that the total number of Egyptians in Arab countries reached 6.985 million Egyptians, marking 68.2 percent.The number of Egyptians who acquired an immigrant status reached 348 in 2017, according to the report.
For the foreign nationalities granted to Egyptians, the report showed that the number of Egyptians who acquired foreign nationality during the period 2013-2017 reached to 2331 Egyptian.
Meanwhile, the number of foreigners who acquired the Egyptian nationality decreased by 75.1 percent from 2013 to 2017. The study pointed out that the sons of Egyptian mothers and foreign women married to Egyptian men are among the main reasons for obtaining the Egyptian nationality.
The results of the statistical study indicate that the number of Egyptians married to Arab and foreign women reached 24,800. The number of marriage contracts of Egyptians from an Arab wife reached 12,220 during the period 2013-2017, while marriages to foreign wives amounted to 12,589.
The number of Egyptian marriages to an Arab husband reached 7772 cases from 2013 to 2017, while the cases of Egyptian marriage to a foreign husband amounted to 2485 and the number of foreign births hit 125 births during the period 2013-2017.
The results indicate that the number of Egyptian son scientific missions abroad reached a maximum height of 1021 Egyptians in 2016, while it reached 560 Egyptians in 2017.
The study also pointed out that the number of foreigners working in the government sector reached 1132 foreigners in 2017, an increase of 27.3 percent over 2016, where the number reached 889 foreigners.
Also, the number of foreign workers in the private and investment sector decreased by 8.4 percent during the period 2013-2017,reaching 14699 foreigners in 2013, and 13469 foreigners in 2017.
