KHARTOUM, June 16 (MENA) - Arab League (AL) Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit arrived in Khartoum Sunday on a visit to Sudan to meet with head of the Transitional Military Council Abdel Fattah al Burhan and representatives of political powers and movements in the conflict-hit country.
The visit comes within the framework of the major importance Abul Gheit attaches to following up developments in Sudan and in line with the AL’s keenness to achieve full security and stability in its member states, AL spokesman Mahmoud Afifi said in press statements Saturday.
During the visit, the AL secretary general will assert the importance of the Sudanese parties’ commitment to a peaceful course that achieves a democratic political transition, which is aspired by the Sudanese people, the spokesman added.
