CAIRO – 5 June 2019: Parliament's Human Rights Committee member Mohamed al-Koumi said that everyone now is aware that Human Rights Watch holds a hostile attitude towards the Egyptian state, and that its reports are "funded".

This came after the New York-based non-governmental organization accused the Egyptian army in Sinai as well as the militants fought by the army of committing human rights violations including war crimes.

Egypt has blocked the HRW's website in September 2017, only one day after the organization released a report concerning alleged systematic torture inside Egyptian jails.

Brotherhood, Qatar, Turkey

Koumi accused the "alliance of evil people including the [Muslim] Brotherhood and the states sponsoring the terrorist organization" of being behind the issuance of such "false reports" which aim at obstructing the development of the Egyptian state.

The Egyptian authorities designated the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group in December 2013, a few months after the ousting of Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated former President Mohamed Morsi and the dispersal of pro-Morsi sit-ins.

"As Egypt becomes stronger and more stable, and [as] the pace of accomplishments, national and development projects, expansion of urban cities in all governorates step up, the Human Rights Watch and [those] who support it with money will try to block the march," Koumi stated.

Zionist goals?

Emirati researcher Ali Mohammed al-Shurafa' criticized the suspicious reports issued by Human Rights organization from time to time, accusing them of seeking to stir up unrest within the Arab countries.

The Human Rights organization and the Human Rights Watch are organizations that "serve the objectives of Zionism through various means," Shurafa' said, adding that psychologists, media personnel and study centers work for these organizations that aim to "incite (the youth) to revolt against the regimes of the states, which will lead the states eventually to fall."

Mohammed Mustafa, a researcher in Islamic movements, said that the Human Rights Watch plays a suspicious role in inciting against the Egyptian state, adding that this organization never defends the civilians or the army and police personnel who are killed by terrorist elements.

SIS slams report

The State Information Service (SIS) has issued a detailed report responding to “false allegations” a report released by Human Rights Watch on May 28 on the situation in Sinai.

HRW’s report has attracted several negative comments from experts who deemed it “unreasonable and unfounded,” accusing HRW of making allegations against the Egyptian army and police forces without giving concrete evidence for them. That is in addition to narrating a one-sided opinion of the events.

The SIS explained that HRW cited sources that are either supporting the designated terrorist group, the Brotherhood, or organizations that are in a state of enmity with Egypt.
