CAIRO - 3 June 2019: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi announced he will receive the families of Armed Forces and Police martyrs on the first day of Eid and perform prayers with them like last year.
The president made the announcement during the Egyptian Family Iftar held on Sunday. He said he will honor the martyrs’ families and give gifts to children.
Since the ouster of former President Mohamed Morsi over mass protests, a number of terror attacks targeted civilians, particularly Christians, as well as police and army personnel. That has resulted in hundreds of martyrs and damaged vehicles. At present, terrorism is confined to North Sinai.
The outlawed Muslim Brotherhood and others are blamed for the terrorism wave as Morsi and his regime personnel were members of the group.
