Official arrested over charges of bribery in Beheira

CAIRO – 3 June 2019: The head of the technical office of Beheira governor was arrested over charges of taking bribes worth L.E. 500,000 ($29,930) from businessmen and owners of contracting companies.

The defendant is accused of illegally authorizing the seizure of lands, and converting the use of these lands from agricultural to residential without obtaining the necessary approvals from local authorities.

The houses of the defendant and other businessmen involved in the bribery were inspected, where physical evidence on the crime was seized. The defendant confessed the details of the crime, and was detained pending investigations.
