MECCA, Saudi Arabia, June 1 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi praised the strength of relations between Egypt and Lebanon at both the official and popular levels.
During talks he had with Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al Hariri on the sidelines of a Mecca-hosted summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Friday night, he expressed to the premier his best wishes of success for him and his government to be able to fulfill the aspirations of the Lebanese people to realize more progress, security and stability in their nation, according to presidential spokesman Bassam Radi.
Hariri underscored the brotherly connections between both countries, lauding Egypt’s support for Lebanon and voicing appreciation of Egypt which he described as a bedrock of stability in the whole region, Radi said.
He added that Hariri praised the inspiring successful Egyptian development experiment, noting that he considers it a model to be followed by other developing nations.
Talks between the two side took up ways to increase trade exchange and investments and the transfer of Egyptian expertise in a wide range of fields, including electricity, infrastructure and energy projects, the spokesman said.
They also reviewed the current regional political conditions, including conditions in Syria and other conflict-hit Arab countries, he added.
