CAIRO – 26 May 2019: In his meeting with Sudanese Transitional Military Council Chairman Abdel Fatah al-Burhan, who visited Egypt for the first time since the ouster of former Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi affirmed Egypt’s full support to bring stability and safety to the Sudanese people, said Egypt’s presidential spokesperson Bassam Radi in a statement on Saturday.
“He [President Sisi] voiced Egypt’s readiness to fully support the brothers in Sudan to overcome this stage in conformity with the aspirations of the Sudanese people away from external interventions,” Radi said.

President Sisi also affirmed his country’s keenness to accelerate the implementation of joint development projects between both countries, particularly in fields of electricity and railway.
Sudanese interim military chief updated President Sisi on the latest development of the Sudanese political situation, parsing Egypt’s cooperative efforts for Sudan’s unity and stability, Radi continued.
Burhan arrived in Cairo to meet with President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi on Saturday, following a trip to Saudi Arabia, where he met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed Bin Salman.

Four days ago, President Sisi received a letter of thanks and appreciation from Burhan in response to the congratulatory message sent to him on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.
Shortly after Bashir’s regime was removed, Egypt expressed its “full confidence” in the ability of the Sudanese people and their “loyal” national army to overcome the challenges of such “decisive” stage and meet the Sudanese people’s aspiration to achieve stability, progress and prosperity.
