CAIRO – 18 May 2019: A group of priests and Coptic Christians participated in the inauguration of a new mosque in Assuit's Dayrout, Upper Egypt, on Friday.

In an atmosphere charged with national unity, the Coptic priests and Christians shared Muslim clergymen and prayers’ iftar meal, the breakfast Muslims worldwide have after fasting from dawn to sunset during the holy month of Ramadan. The Iftar banquet was held inside the inaugurated Grand Mosque.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by dean of the Faculty of Islamic Theology at Asst Al-Azhar University Mohamed Abdel-Malek, bishop of the Evangelical Church in Assyut Amgad, Vice-President of the Church Diocese of The Blessed Virgin Mary and Archangel Michael in Dayrout Ibram Tharwat, and Judge Tareq Azizi, representatives of Egyptian State Lawsuits Authority’s branch in Assuit.
