CAIRO, May 12 (MENA) - Speaker of the House of Representatives Ali Abdel Aal has dismissed as baseless statements recklessly made about electoral quotas in the legislative vote.

The statements were very confusing, Abdel Aal said, stressing that the government should not, with parliament already in session, submit any bills on organizing legislative elections.

This is a pure parliamentary matter, he noted.

Electoral bills should be outlined in a consensual manner and in line with certain rules, the speaker stressed.

Abdel Aal also said that news that the House intended to issue a bill on old rents in Egypt was untrue.

The old rent law is one that needs societal dialogue and is not on the agenda of the parliament right now, he added.

The speaker urged MPs not to make inaccurate statements in this regard.
