CAIRO - 8 June 2017: Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of Kuwait attempts to mediate between Qatar and Gulf States have failed according to Bahrain Foreign Minister Khalid bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa statements to Makkah Saudi newspaper, Thursday.

‘Qatar gave no chance for Sheikh Sabah’s attempts to succeed, ‘they are responsible of the current political situation’ Khalifa said. He added in his statements that Doha insists on its foreign policy to clash with Riyadh and Gulf states agreements.

On Tuesday Emir of Kuwait Sabah Al-Ahmad, started a tour included Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar trying to mediate between them after cutting the diplomatic ties due to allegations of ‘supporting terrorism and plans against the region.’

No official details were published about the results of the meetings; however, according to Saudi media outlets, ten conditions were listed by Saudi Arabia and UAE to resume the relations.

The conditions published

after Kuwait’s Emir attempts of reconciliation included ‘cutting off diplomatic ties with Iran, expelling all members of Hamas and the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood, stopping the broadcast of Al Jazeera-Qatari channel, halting any interference in the internal affairs of Egypt or the Gulf states and offering an official apology to the Gulf States.’

King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, met with Saudi counterpart, Wednesday and said in following statements that they have discussed the current situation regarding the region, and that they almost have the same perspective regarding resuming the diplomatic ties with Qatar.

Furthermore, Bahrain’s foreign minister said in his statements that Gulf States have ‘no intentions’ to retreat their unified decision.

Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Libya and Yemen decided to cut all diplomatic ties with Qatar for its “continuous support for terrorism,” closing their airspace and seaports for Qatari transportation, on Monday.

Tensions between Qatar and the other Arab states started after Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani directed a message to four Arab countries in which he attacked Egypt, Bahrain and the UAE for their attitudes towards Iran.
