ALEXANDRIA, Egypt, April 30 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi honored on Tuesday a number of labor personalities in appreciation of their achievements in serving the nation.
During a Labor Day ceremony, held in the seaport city of Alexandria, President Sisi awarded 10 prominent veteran labor figures Orders of Labor of the first class.
Sisi also granted Orders of Excellence of the first and second classes to labor officials in appreciation of their efforts in preserving labor rights.
The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Speaker of the House of Representatives Ali Abdel Aal, Minister of Defense Mohamed Zaki and Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese along with other senior state officials and army commanders.
The president added in his speech at the Labor Day ceremony that the fruits of the economic reform program have not been reaped so far.
He underlined the necessity of hard work, confirming the competition will never stop. All countries in the world are competing with each other for achieving their own people's welfare, he said.
All achievements of the past few years were made thanks to the awareness and endurance of the Egyptian people, he noted, adding that challenges are still there and require more awareness to overcome them.
The president said what has been accomplished by the Egyptians is one step of 1,000 steps to follow.
He highlighted the necessity of hard work and construction and stopping acts of violence and destruction.
The president lauded the referendum process that took place earlier this month to introduce amendments into the Egyptian constitution.
