CAIRO – 7 June 2017: Cairo Airport authorities refused entry to all Qatari citizens and stopped all Qatari employees from working at the airport, an official airport source said Wednesday.

The source added in a statement that airport head Magdi Ishaq and Assistant Airport Security Manager Maj. Gen. Fahmy Mujahid decided to form two teams at the airport. There was a joint effort by the two teams to withdraw licenses from Qatar Airlines employees and prevent them from working, the statement added.

Egypt announced that its last flight to Qatar left Cairo Airport Tuesday after a decision to close all airspace to and from Qatar, according to a source at Cairo Airport.

Saudi Arabia and Bahrain also revoked the licenses of Qatar Airlines Tuesday and ordered its offices to close within 48 hours, according to Saudi news agency SPA.

On Monday, Bahrain, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Yemen, Libya’s eastern-based government and the Maldives all severed diplomatic ties with Doha. Qatar is facing accusations of backing terrorist groups.
