Putin congratulates Sisi on referendum of constitutional amendments results

CAIRO - 26 April 2019: On the sidelines of the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRFIC) in Beijing on Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi on the results of the referendum on new constitutional amendments, praising Egypt's efforts for bringing peace and stability to the region, said Egyptian presidential spokesperson Bassam Radi.

"We are currently developing our relations, we are very active here. And, without any doubts, Egypt is a reliable partner for Russia, in the Middle East in particular," Russian President Putin was quoted as saying by

Putin shed lights on the developing bilateral relations, thanking President Sisi on being a co-chairperson of the African-Russian Summit due to convene in October in Russia city of Sochi.

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi arrived Beijing early Thursday to attend the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRFIC). The Belt and Road Initiative was launched by the Chinese government to enhance trade, investments, and infrastructure in more than 150 countries in Asia, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. The initiative is a revival to what was known as “The Silk Road.”
