RAMALLAH, April 16 (MENA) - The Islamic Awqaf and Aqsa Affairs Department in Al Quds said on Tuesday that Monday's fire at part of the mosque was due to children in the area playing around with fire.
The department in a statement lauded efforts by the fire squad of the mosque who were able to put out the fire that went off in the guard's room and control it in a very short time.
The department urged worshipers to urge their children not to play with fire especially inside the mosque.
Meanwhile, President Mahmoud Abbas warned of targeting places of worshiping and underlined the necessity of preserving them for their humanitarian and religious value.
