CAIRO –14 April 2019: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Congo-Brazzaville’s counterpart Jean-Claude Gakosso discussed ways of enhancing bilateral relations as well as international and regional issues of mutual concerns, said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ahmed Hefzy on Sunday.

The Congolese foreign minister handed Shourky a written letter from Congo’s President Denis Sassou Nguessoto President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, in light of Egypt’s presidency of the African Union in 2019, Hefzy said.

Both sides tackled the ongoing military escalation in Libya, agreeing on the necessity of settling the Libyan turmoil to bring stability and peace to its people, Hefzy continued.

Since April 4, the Libyan National Army, led by Libyan commander Khalifa Haftar, has taken advance on Libyan troops of the internationally-recognized government led by Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord Fayez al-Sarraj.
