CAIRO – 30 March 2019: Security authorities are stepping up preparations and security as rivals Ahly and Zamalek sports clubs will meet today to clash over the Egyptian Premier League title.
With only two points separating the two clubs, security forces will be securing the audience, busses and the inside and outside of Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium that will only host less than 100 spectators due to security concerns.
Since losing 2-1 to Pyramids in early January, Ahly have managed to strike nine straight wins coupled with three draws for Zamalek including two successive 2-2 outcomes in the previous two matches.
Heated exchanges and quarrels between supporters of both sides have flooded social networking websites in recent days in anticipation of the match.
A foreign official will be in charge of the game, with Romanian referee Istvan Kovacs selected for the match by the Egyptian Football Association.
