CAIRO - 29 March 2019: Egypt adopted on Friday a draft resolution presented by France at the UN Security Council on combating the funding of terrorism.

Addressing the UN Security Council, Egypt's Permanent Representative to the UN Mohamed Idris said that combating the funding sources of terrorism is necessary to put an end to the threat of terrorist groups in the world.

He called for a firm action against some terrorist entities and states that use non-governmental organizations, charities and relief agencies to collect money for terrorist acts.

He also stressed the importance of activating international mechanisms to dry up the funding sources of terrorism and combating transnational crimes.

Idris urged the UN to step up its efforts aimed at building capabilities of nations in the field of combating terrorism financing.
