CAIRO - 21 March 2019: For the second year in a row, Minister of Immigration, Nabila Makram, decided to visit her former school, Saint Anne School, to honor her teacher, Sœur Pauline, on Mother’s Day.
Minster Makram wore the school’s uniform and spent the whole day at the school, according to a Wednesday statement issued by the ministry. She affirmed during the visit that she appreciates the effect Sœur Pauline had on her character, as she became more open to accepting others.
In March 2018, Makram visited Saint Anne School to present roses to her teacher, Sœur Pauline.
“Le cœur chaud” or [warm-hearted] was how Sœur Pauline described the feeling of seeing her student. “It’s the feeling of a mother who sees her daughter after a long time. I’d like to thank her for all she has done for me, and for coming here on Mother’s Day,” Sœur Pauline said.
Nuns' schools in Egypt are known to be amongst the most disciplined schools; they enjoy an excellent reputation of producing educated and well-behaved students. Many families choose such schools for their children, knowing that they will receive a quality education.
Returning to former schools with simple gifts, such as roses, to be presented to teachers is known to be a tradition in Egypt, particularly among female students. Some schools organize special celebrations to honor mothers on Mother’s Day in order to express gratefulness for everything they do.
