CAIRO - 19 March 2019: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly received on Tuesday Russian Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Kostantin Noskov to discuss cooperation in the sectors of IT and digital transformation.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat and tackled the activation of an MoU signed by the communications ministries of both countries in those sectors.
The prime minister highlighted that Egypt is achieving progress in shifting to the e-government model and mechanizing services which will be further enhanced when governmental institutions move to the New Administrative Capital (NAC) in 2020.
Madbouly stated that Egypt aspires to cooperate with Russia in the sectors of cybersecurity and AI to keep up with the developments of the fourth industrial revolution.
On his side, the Russian minister expressed his country’s openness to cooperate with Egypt in telecommunications technology, cybersecurity, and smart cities. Noskov added that Russia had a successful experience with using technology to secure the World Cup in 2018.
Noskov is accompanied with the representatives of 12 companies operating in the sectors of telecommunications technology and cybersecurity. Those officials expressed admiration of the development Egypt has achieved in the sector and its modern infrastructure viable for the ICT sector.
Minister Talaat stated that he had agreed with his Russian counterpart to cooperate in Africa as Egyptian cadres will introduce the Russian technology in the continent.
