CAIRO – 13 March 2019: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry said that Egypt’s policy towards other countries is mainly based on balance. He added that Egypt aims for respectful mutual relations with its partners.

In a speech before the Parliament on Monday, Shoukry stressed that Egypt never interferes in other countries' affairs or conspires against anyone. “We are very clear and direct in our stances towards neighbors,” Shoukry said.

Shoukry urged the international community to avoid double standards and deal with all issues in a way that serves all parties.

Earlier in March, Shoukry affirmed that Egypt will continue to fight terrorism with its "Arab brothers" until they eliminate terrorism completely. He added during his speech in the 151st session of the Council of Arab Foreign Ministers, held in the Arab League, that there is a necessity to develop the Arab mechanism to combat terrorism.

Shoukry also stressed Egypt’s full support of the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights. “It is not allowed or accepted anymore to see bloodshed due to political conflicts,” Shoukry stated.

He noted that there are Arabian efforts to get the Syrian conflict back on the negotiation table.
