Housing minister details NAC units to finish mid-2020

CAIRO - 5 March 2019: The Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Development targets finishing 40,000 residential units, facilities, and public services projects in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) by June 2020.

Minister Essam al-Gazar explained that the breakdown is 952 villas, 22,460 units in residential buildings, and 2,050 units in buildings that serve both residential and commercial purposes in the third neighborhood called “Capital Residence” stretching over 1,000 feddans.

The fifth neighborhood called “New Garden City” having the same size will have 23,000 residential units including flats, stand alone villas, semi-detached houses, and attached houses. That is in addition to two hotels and commercial units in lower floors of some residential units. Of those, 230 villas and 15,000 residential and commercial units will be finished by mid-2020.

The minister stated that the other projects expected to finish by the same date are the first phase of the water treatment plant with a capacity of 50,000 cubic meters per day, five international schools, a restaurants complex, a mosque, facilities of the government neighborhood, the investment zone, and the third and fifth residential neighborhoods.



The minister added that NAC will house “Capital Park” which will stretch over 1,000 feddans and encompass many entertainment facilities including bike paths and jogging tracks.

The park is divided into three main areas. The first will stretch over 375 feddans and encompass a garden having an Islamic design, a covered garden, a social club, a spa, lakes, and a restaurant.

The second will span over 306 feddans and house an open air theatre, artwork garden, patrimonial garden, ceremony venues, and an amusement park. The third having an area of 309 feddans will include children educational garden, open-air reading areas and gardens, restaurants complex, sports club, and a central plaza.
