Cairo Univ. to accept research projects if solving social problems: Khosht

CAIRO – 4 March 2019: Cairo University will accept research projects only if proven they contribute to solve societal problems, said Cairo University President Mohamed Othman el-Khosht.

According to Khosht’s decision, there will be criteria upon which research projects will be approved by university board, “science is the key to solve problems and upgrade society,” he added.

He explained that all reform initiatives in Egypt face obstacles due to the way people receive and perceive those reforms and development steps.

“Thus, we need to work hard on developing Egyptians’ minds, and change their way of thinking, so that their minds are opened to receive new ideas,” Khosht said.

According to Khosht, Egypt has achieved a great accomplishment in scientific research at Cairo University, according to British QS ranking.

Egypt has improved in a total of 20 scientific specializations in world rankings of universities.
