Woman held hostage following heavy gunfire in Australia

CAIRO - 5 June 2017: A man was shot dead amid a 30 to 40 rounds of gunfire, and a woman was held hostage at an apartment block in Brighton at south-east Melbroune, Australia on Monday.

A man held a woman hostage following reports of an explosion in the streets earlier, as the Victoria police and emergency services had been called to the scene.

The seized building was evacuated and roads were closed as the police negotiated the hostage’s release and urged pedestrians to avoid the area.
