CAIRO – 4 June 2017: Al-Azhar condemned Saturday night’s terror attacks in London near London Bridge and Borough Market in a Sunday statement.

Al-Azhar “refuses and condemns all terror attacks that targets innocent citizens everywhere,” the statement read, adding that all people have the right to live safely and peacefully, no matter their religion, color, language or nationality.

“The international community should unify their efforts to end the terrorism that threatens world peace and hits different parts of the world every day,” Al-Azhar said.

Al-Azhar sent condolences to the people and government of Britain, wishing all the injured to get well soon.

Three men drove a van into pedestrians at high speed on London Bridge Saturday night before stabbing revelers on nearby streets. Seven were killed and 30 injured. No one has claimed responsibility for that attack, but British Prime Minister Theresa May blamed “Islamist extremism” in a televised statement on Sunday.
