CAIRO – 3 June 2017: The ban on Egyptian agricultural goods in Sudan was a technical issue that came about at a time of disagreement between the two countries, Sudanese Foreign Affairs Minister Ibrahim El Ghandour stated in a press conference held Saturday.
Sudan had claimed earlier that Egypt supported Darfour rebels; El Ghandour stated that investigations are being held to validate such allegations.
El Ghandour added that Sudan is protecting its borders against terrorist incursion. Egyptian Foreign Affairs Minister Sameh Shoukry stipulated that both countries would be cooperating to defy terrorism and their national security.
He said that rejecting Egyptian visa applications will be remedied soon in accordance with Egypt’s foreign affairs ministry.
El Ghandour asserted that the presidents of both countries have met 18 times.
He announced that met with Egyptian president Abdel Fatah El Sisi to discuss military and security topics, as well as political, economic, and cultural matters on the regional and global scale.
El Ghandour asked media in both countries to be “soldiers of good” as they make public opinion, and they shape relations between peoples.
He stressed upon the necessity of preserving good relations between peoples and not just on the official level.
Shoukry concluded by declaring that Egypt’s foreign policy bears the values of growth, mutual respect, and mutual interests.
El Ghandour arrived in Egypt Friday evening to hold a meeting and press conference in Tahrir Palace with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Saturday.
Shokry had earlier invited El Ghandor to discuss topics related to economic and trade relations between both countries as well as the changes in regional conditions.
El Ghandour first visited Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi in Itihadeya to discuss different topics.
