CAIRO, Jan 14 (MENA) - In the presence of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, construction work started Monday in the Green River area and central park of the New Capital.

The first phase of the Green River project extends over an area of 10 kilometers and is estimated to cost some 500 million dollars.

It should cover the area from the middle ring road till the regional ring road.

Madbouli said the Green River project in the New Administrative Capital will be finalized in 18 months with the participation of the private sector.

In statements upon launching work on the project, he said the mammoth project will include the biggest modern park in the world.

The park - to be set up on an area of 1000 kilometers - will be open for the public.

Seven contracting companies are working on the project with hundreds of workers hired for the purpose.

The park is expected to receive over 2 million visitors annually, director of the office of Dar Al-Handasah Yehia Zaki said.
