CAIRO – 9 January 2019: A French delegation arrived in Cairo on Wednesday ahead of President Emmanuel Macron's anticipated arrival in the upcoming days.

The delegation consists of 14 officials and diplomats that are supposed to prepare for Macron’s schedule during his stay in Egypt. A number of French officials working in Cairo’s embassy welcomed the delegation in Cairo International Airport.

French Ambassador to Egypt Stéphane Romatet said that there are extensive preparations between Cairo and Paris ahead of Macron’s arrival. He explained that the French president's arrival reflects the strong ties between the two countries especially after the success of the French-Egyptian health forum that was organized in November 2018.

Several issues of mutual concern are set to be on the negotiations table between Macron and the Egyptian officials he is going to meet, including economic relations and the international and national affairs.

In June 2018, French Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian arrived in Cairo and met with several officials as part of Macron's visit preparations. In previous statements, Romatet pointed out that Macron’s visit comes per his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fatah al-Sisi's invitation.
