CAIRO – 5 January 2019: Official spokesman of the Coptic Church Paul Halim said Saturday that the Christmas mass on January 6 will be held in the New Administrative Capital led by Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria.

Halim added that the mass will take place at 12 p.m. and that buses will leave from agreed-upon spots towards the Cathedral in the New Administrative Capital.

Before mass, Halim elaborated, Pope Tawadros II will receive priests and clerks in Saint Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Abaseya between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

Located 45 kilometers East of Cairo, Sisi announced in 2015 the construction of a new city, which he described as the new administrative and financial capital of Egypt.

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi launched the inauguration ceremony of the New Administrative Capital on October 11, 2017.

The New Capital, which is currently being developed by the New Administrative Capital for Urban Development, will include residential districts, educational institutions, hospitals, 40,000 hotel rooms, a theme park, solar plants and a new international airport.

Participating developers at the moment include the Arab Contractors Company, Concord for Engineering and Contracting Company and Talaat Moustafa Group Holding Company, among others.
