CAIRO - 29 December 2018: The Interior Ministry announced in a Saturday statement that security forces killed 40 terrorists in fire exchange as part of a crackdown on terrorist hideouts in Giza and North Sinai governorates.
The Interior Ministry explained that it received information that these terrorists were planning to commit many hostile operations against State facilities and Christian places of worship along with men of the Armed Forces and Police.

The ministry added that the operation is conducted within the framework of efforts to hunt down terrorist elements who are involved in implementing hostile operations that are aimed at stabilizing the security of the country.
The security forces launched several attacks on terrorist hotbeds, resulting in the killing of 40 terrorists; 14 in 6 of October city and 16 on Wahat Road in Giza, and 10 in Arish city, North Sinai.
The forces seized large amounts of weapons, ammunition, and explosive devices and materials.
Legal measures were taken accordingly and State Security Prosecution proceeded with investigations into the attack.
The ministry noted that 30 terrorists were killed in Giza while the 10 others were killed in Sinai.
