Power consumption of households, factories records 68% of total production
CAIRO – 27 December 2018: The consumption of electricity has seen a continuous increase during the summer period from July to September 2018, with households and industry sectors constituting 68 percent of the total production, according to an official report.
During July, the consumed amount of electricity reached 14 megawatt/hour, jumping to 14.3 megawatt/hour in August and 14.5 megawatt/hour in September.
A report by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) showed that households and factories consumed the highest proportion of the three-month production of electricity across the country. The consumption of the two sectors reached 68.3 percent in September.
A newsletter issued in December revealed that agriculture, irrigation, sewage and trade sectors were the least to consume electricity, reaching only 10.3 percent of the total production in September.
As per electricity production during the aforementioned three months, the reports stated that the figure saw a decline from 19.9 megawatt/hour in July, to 19.8 megawatt/hour in August and reaching 18.4 megawatt/hour in September.
