Al-Ahram Weekly dismisses reports one of its journalists invited to Israeli Knesset - FILE
CAIRO - 18 December 2018: Al-Ahram Weekly dismissed on Monday local Israeli media reports that one of its reporters is among an Arab media delegation scheduled to visit the Israeli Knesset and meet with a number of the country's officials.
In a statement, Al-Ahram Weekly said that none of its journalists, whether at home or abroad, have received invitations to visit the Israeli parliament as reported by Israeli media outlets.
"We are currently investigating whether a journalist has unduly claimed affiliation with the paper for a visit that contravenes the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate decision against normalisation with Israel before a comprehensive peace solution is achieved between Palestinians and Israelis," the statement concluded.
On Monday, several local Israeli media outlets said that the Israeli Knesset is prepping to host seven Arab journalists living in Europe in an effort to open communication lines as part of an initiative promoted by the Israeli embassy in Paris.
The outlets reported that the delegation would include Egyptian, Lebanese, Algerian and Moroccan nationals employed by the i24 news network, Egypt’s Al-Ahram Weekly and other Arab media outlets in France and Belgium.
