CAIRO, Dec 11 (MENA) - Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit asserted that development of the Arab tourism sector required outlining a comprehensive cultural development plan.

Addressing the joint Arab tourism and cultural ministers meeting, that kicked off earlier in the day in Bibliotheca Alexandria, Abul Gheit voiced hope that the meeting could come up with tangible results to enhance Arab tourism and cultural sectors.

He asserted that the Arab region has a rich humanitarian civilization, adding that the first human communities as well as first cities and first monarchies have been established in the Arab region which embraced the early eras of human history.

Abul Gheit said the Arab League is seeking to outline a mechanism that combines cultural and tourism activities through the Social and Economic Council that will convene on the fringe of the extraordinary session of the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit, to be held in January 2019 in Beirut.
