CAIRO – 7 December 2018: Nasser Kamel, the secretary general of the Union for the Mediterranean, said that Egypt is participating in several projects of the UfM, adding that the North African country has a remarkable participation in different fields.
In an interview with Egypt Today, Kamel lauded Egypt’s participation in environmental projects, creating business and employment environment, and linking employers to job seekers.
The renowned Egyptian diplomat said that Egypt is among the four most significant states of the UfM’s 43 member states, as it participates in a number of 35 projects including Metro Jobs.
Kamel asserted that three prestigious European universities have been betting on the European University that is set to be established in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital, considering it as a certificate that this city and this project and the idea are promising and worthy.
The European University in Egypt is being built on an area of about 340,000 square meters in the New Administrative Capital which is under construction, and is located about 40 km east of Cairo.
The Union for the Mediterranean was founded in 2008 to reinforce the Euro-Mediterranean partnership. It brings together 43 member states from Europe and the Mediterranean basin.
The UfM aims at backing the socio-economic development of the member states. It focuses on business sectors that include Higher Education and Research, Transport, Urban Development and Water, Business Development and Employment, Environment and Blue Economy, Civil and Social Affairs, and Energy and Climate Action.
