CAIRO – 30 May 2017: The Cairo criminal court held Tuesday a hearing session for the public prosecution’s plea against 20 members of a terrorist cell in Marsa Matrouh affiliated with the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group in Libya. The next hearing session will be held on June 3 for the defense to take place.

They are charged of joining terrorist camps in Syria and Libya to receive military training, and murdering 21 Egyptian Christian citizens residing in Libya.

The plea was concluded by seeking the harshest penalty against the defendants, which would achieve justice for the wives and children of the victims slaughtered and featured in a video published online in 2015.

The prosecution charged them earlier of belonging to an outlawed group, plotting for terrorist operations in the country, arms possession, and violence incitement.
