CAIRO – 3 December 2018: Head of the River Transport Authority (RTA) Abdel Azim Mohamed was relieved of his duties Monday due to his failure to launch the Nile Taxi and Nile Bus projects.

Minister of Transportation Hesham Arafat returned Mohamed to his position in the Ministry of Irrigation because he “lacks vision” in terms of several pending issues in the RTA, informed sources told Egypt Today.

Mohamed was appointed at the RTA in October 2018 on loan for a year. Transportation via the Nile River has been an idea for years to relieve traffic congestion, but never culminated in a project.
