CAIRO - 30 November 2018: General Mohamed Zaki, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the Minister of Defense and Military Production returned home on Friday from an official visit to Greece, in which he attended the main phase of "Medusa 7" joint military drills.

Elements of Air, Naval and Special forces from Egypt, Cyprus and Greece participated in the military exercise along with cadets from the Egyptian Naval Academy.

Moreover, a number of students of the Presidential Leadership Program attended the military drills for the first time. The military exercise was conducted in west Crete Island.

The drills included implementing several activities, such as marine and air combat and reconnaissance operations, training on maritime interception skills in addition to searching for and detecting submarines and securing naval units against hostile aircraft through the use of different kinds of air defense weapons.

The drills come within the framework of the Egyptian Armed Forces’ joint training plan with friendly countries with the aim of fostering military cooperation and exchanging training expertise in various fields.

The defense ministers of Egypt, Greece and Cyprus praised the high combat performance of all participant forces for the training, which reflects the outstanding level of coordination between the Egyptian, Greek and Cypriot armed forces.
