CAIRO - 19 November 2018: French Ambassador Stéphane Romatet expressed on Monday his country's willingness to enhance strategic partnership with Egypt, support Egypt in the medical domain and offer necessary expertise to Egyptian partners.

France has a distinguished health system and so it is ready to help Egypt in this regard, the ambassador said during the opening of the Egyptian-French health forum.

The diplomat said France is willing to offer all needed medical assistance to Egypt and train doctors at the Egyptian hospitals.

He said France fully understands the importance of the health file for Egyptians, especially as this topic figures high on President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's agenda during his second presidential term.

The Egyptian-French health forum kicked off earlier in the day with the participation of the ministers of finance, investment, health and higher education.

The forum, held under the auspices of the ministries of Health and Finance, is one of the most important events in the Egyptian-French cooperation, as it provides a good opportunity to establish a strong bilateral partnership in the health field.

The two-day forum is co-organised by a group of French companies working in the Egyptian health sector – in cooperation with the French Embassy, and with the support of the French Development Agency, in partnership with Al Ahram Hebdo newspaper.

The forum aims at "building an ever stronger Franco-Egyptian partnership in the health sector... these two days will allow French companies to promote concrete solutions to support the Egyptian authorities in the reform of the health and social protection sector," a statement by organizers of the forum read.
