CAIRO – 11 October 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi stated that 2011 revolution was "a wrong medicine for a wrong diagnosis" during his speech on Thursday, Oct. 11in the 29th Educational Seminar of the Armed forces, titled "October; Continuity of Generations”.

The seminar coincides with the 45th anniversary of the October 6 war victory celebrations.

Defense and Military Production Minister Mohamed Zaki and Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli attended the event, along with a number of senior statesmen and prominent public figures, as well as police and army top brass.

Sisi stressed that the lack of awareness is Egypt's first enemy; “Egypt is facing a great challenge to build awareness.”

“If we really have the country’s best interest in mind, we have to be aware of the real situation in Egypt,” Sisi said.

During the seminar, Sisi dedicated the Army Honorary Shield to the veteran commanders of the October War.

“Despite the bitterness of the 1967 defeat, insufficient military capabilities in terms of weapons, and the hard living conditions at that time, the Egyptians took the decision of war,” Sisi stated.

"The 1973 victory was a miracle by all measures given the big differences in the capabilities of our Armed Forces and the enemy's Armed Forces," Sisi explained.

"Casualties were estimated by thousands, forcing Israel to sign the peace treaty as they were convinced that if the Egyptians are able to achieve such a victory once, they can do it again," the president added.

Sisi stressed, “The one thing I have in mind while talking about the circumstances surrounding the 1967 defeat and the 1973 victory is raising people's awareness of the challenges facing the state in order to support the state's decisions.”

Morever, Sisi honored on Thursday a number of October War heroes and one of the heroes of the ongoing anti-terrorism war in Sinai. The list of the honored veterans included Commander of the 19th Infantry Division Brigadier General Yusuf Afifi and Major General Baki Zaki Youssef (deceased).

Sisi asserted that there is a huge difference between the terrorist, Hesham Ashmawy, and Colonel Ahmed el-Mansy, saying that both of them were officers, but one of them chose to betray the country, while the other kept the covenant.
