CAIRO – 27 May 2017: EgyptAir received their fourth Boeing 737 aircraft after purchasing nine planes at a cost of $864 million, this will be be the 64th aircraft in the company's fleet after the replacement and modernization plan said Chairman of the Holding Company for EgyptAir Safwat Muslim in a Saturday statement.

Muslim added that the aircraft model will reduce fuel consumption by 6 percent compared with the model that the company currently uses and will also reduce maintenance costs by 20 percent and operating costs by 8 percent.

In December 2016, EgyptAir received the first aircraft ordered as a part of a plan to upgrade its fleet; the second was the B737-800 NG, which arrived in Cairo in February 2017.

On May 7, Egypt Air celebrated its 85th anniversary with the arrival of its third Boeing B737-800.
