CAIRO - 20 September 2018: UNICEF Representative in Egypt Bruno Maes hailed Egypt's successful efforts to protect children from the dangers of human trafficking.
Addressing the first regional conference of the general prosecutors and attorneys of Africa and Europe, Maes said there are more than 60 million immigrant children worldwide according to the 2016 statistics.
Maes underlined the importance of partnership with the government, noting that there are 233,000 refugees in Egypt, including 85,000 children.
The three-day conference opened in Sharm El Sheikh on Tuesday with the participation of lawyers and chief prosecutors of 24 African countries, three European states and six international organizations.
