SHARM EL SHEIKH - 19 September 2018: Sudanese Attorney General Omar Ahmed on Wednesday said that the crimes of human trafficking and illegal migration are not far from his country as Sudan's geographic location makes it a transit point for illegal migrants.

Addressing an international conference of chief prosecutors on global judicial cooperation, which kicked off on Tuesday, he added that the Sudanese law and constitution prohibit human trafficking and slavery along with illegal migration.

For his part, Ethiopian Assistant Attorney General Aydankatso Werko said that his country is exerting much efforts for fighting human trafficking.

He noted that challenges are hampering these efforts including lack of funding that is needed to train officials in charge of combating trafficking, pointing out that his country is cooperating with several international organizations for enhancing the skills of these officials.
